Ugly Betty Cancellation / Site Future
08 Feb 2010 - By: Mona - 0 Comment
I’m sure by now a lot of you have heard that ABC has canceled Ugly Betty. I have nothing but sadness to see it end and I wish it could have been otherwise. It was an amazing show with an incredible message, the best ensemble cast on television and the greatest fans.
My experience with this fansite has been incredibly rewarding. I got to do things that I’ve never dreamt because of the site and cannot begin to fathom all that I’ve learned out of this experience. It isn’t just posting pictures and news, and videos, it was learning about the television industry, it was being a part of this amazing fan culture that just continually grows, and being an outlet for that creativity was an honor.
I am extremely grateful to those who have visited it over the years and have supported the site and I’m very sorry that in the past two seasons, the site hasn’t gotten the attention it deserved.
But, for as long as possibly, I plan to keep the site open. And even though, it majorly lacks updates, and goes away for short periods of times, it will always come back. The site was created as my way to honor a fantastic show, and for as long as I can, it will stay that way.
So, Thank you to the incredible cast and crew of Ugly Betty for your amazing work! Thanks to ABC for giving it the chance at a proper ending and Thanks to those of you who visited the site and made it what it was.

Michael Urie Cast in Off-Broadway's Temperamentals
23 Mar 2009 - By: Lauren - 0 Comment
As previously announced, The Temperamentals, a new play by Jon Marans, will begin performances April 30 at Off Broadway's Barrow Group Studio Theater on West 36th Street.
The cast, according to The New York Times, will be led by Michael Urie, who plays Vanessa Williams' assistant on ABC's "Ugly Betty."
Directed by Jonathan Silverstein, the limited engagement will officially open May 4 at 8 PM and run through May 18.
"Temperamental," according to press notes, "was a code word for 'homosexual' in the early 1950s, part of a created language of secret words that gay men used to communicate."
The new play tells the story of two men, "the communist Harry Hay and the young Viennese refugee and designer Rudi Gernreich, weaving together the personal and the political to tell a relatively unknown chapter in gay history. It explores the deepening love between two complex men, while they build the first gay rights organization in the United States pre Stonewall. . . . The characters consist of the actual men who founded the Mattachine Society, as well as prominent figures of the time such as Frank Tavener of the House Un-American Committee and the director Vincente Minnelli."
Playwright Marans also penned Old Wicked Songs, a 1996 Pulitzer Prize Finalist for Drama and winner of the New York Drama League Award and the L.A. Drama Logue Award.
Show times will be Friday-Monday at 8 PM with matinees on Sundays at 4 PM. Special performances are scheduled for April 30 at 8 PM and May 2 at 2 PM.
The Barrow Group Studio Theater is located in Manhattan at 312 West 36 Street, 3rd Floor. Tickets, priced $18, will be available through www.smarttix.com or (212) 868-4444.
Eric Mabius' Lack of Sleep
23 Mar 2009 - By: Lauren - 0 Comment
Ugly Betty star and new dad Eric Mabius is getting less beauty sleep than usual these days.
"We take turns sleeping," the actor, 37, with wife Ivy Sherman, told PEOPLE at Sunday's Broadway opening of the London import God of Carnage, starring James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden. "Some nights we get sleep, most nights we don't."
Mabius and Sherman have two sons, 2½-year-old Maxfield Elliot and Rylan Jaxson, who is 3 months old.
Though Mabius – who plays fashion editor Daniel Meade on the ABC hit – claims Vanessa Williams is the go-to Ugly Betty cast member for parenting advice, he seems to be doing well enough on his own in his role as daddy, judging by his toddler's progress.
"He never forgets anything," says an incredulous Mabius. "I take him down to the promenade, and he says, 'Is that the Staten Island Ferry, Dad?' He’s 2½ years old!"
Ashley Jensen is leaving Ugly Betty at the end of the season, and I know this because... she was just cast as a series regular in the CBS comedy pilot Accidentally on Purpose!
A rep for CBS/Paramount confirms that Jensen is joining the cast of Accidentally, which revolves around a San Francisco movie critic (Jenna Elfman) who finds herself "accidentally" pregnant after a fling with a much younger man.
Jensen's Betty departure hardly comes as a surprise. The actress was less than thrilled when Betty moved its production from Los Angeles to New York. In fact, Jensen was the only cast-member not to relocate to the Big Apple full-time -- making for one hellish cross-country commute. Add to that the fact that she was barely visible on Betty this season and you have the makings of what an ABC insider calls "a completely mutual" parting of the ways.
"While we're sad that Ashley will not be returning next season as a series regular, she is still a member of the Ugly Betty family," Ugly Betty exec producer Silvio Horta said in an exclusive statement. "So don't be surprised if you see Christina pop back up in Betty's life."
